Part two starts off at Courtney’s adorable vintage shop-Curiosity! It’s extremely awesome, and she has all kinds of great vintage items for sale (which you can also view and purchase on their website). But she also has a great collection that she rents out for weddings, and gave us lots of great little details to photograph!

I’ve been sitting at my computer trying to decide if I wanted to just blog this one image tonight, or a ton of images, and I finally decided on just this one. Partly because when I attempted to narrow down images from what we shot tonight, I ended up with over 300 haha. And partly because I love this story too much to rush

So for tonight, just this one! An “after” shots of sorts (see before here)…The Richmond family, all in one place, after being split across an ocean for so long. Love them so much! Can’t wait to share more, and Sarah and Rob, we had an awesome time hanging out with you all tonight!

We shared a sneak peek from Jenna and Tom’s engagement session a few weeks ago, and today I’m excited to share a few more from their classic Nashville engagement session!

When we had our initial meeting with Jenna and Tom, we kind of had the general small talk going on…almost like a first date kind of thing I’m always a little nervous during initial meetings with potential couples! But a few minutes in, we discovered that Jenna and Tom are both musicians, and I knew we would be the perfect fit! Tom plays jazz with the Nashville Jazz Workshop, and Jenna plays with the Nashville Philharmonic Orchestra. He’s from Alabama, she’s from Georgia. They met in Nashville, and have fallen in love with their new city just as they have with each other. And after 4+ years together, they can also name each other’s favorite tunes from their respective genre…love it!

We had a great time going around to some of their favorite spots in Nashville, and here are some of our favorite images from the day!

The Jones family lives near Columbia, SC, and when we were planning our trip to Charleston, I decided to contact them to see if they wanted to do some updated family photos (since the last time we photographed them, they were a family of three!). As we were working out details for the session, I asked Brittney some of the things she wanted to most remember about this time in their family’s life. One of the things she mentioned was how Eyan, at almost two years old, was so into exploring and discovering things. He is extremely inquisitive and independent, and we definitely saw a ton of that during our session! So cute. And Iyla’s beautiful blue eyes, and her sweet personality that is just starting to show itself (especially when she has a little bit of space from her older brother!) was pretty much the most adorable thing ever

I think one of the things I loved most about this session was how Chris and Brittney just went with the flow. Eyan wants to play in the fountain? No problem! Time for a milkshake break? Great idea! Iyla is not a fan of the cold water? All good! It was entirely laid back and absolutely perfect So…here are some of our favorites from the first half our session, which took place in the Waterfront Park area of Charleston:

Every Friday needs some pretty wedding pictures, right?! Back in April, Chris and I traveled to Charleston, SC for a few sessions. It was an awesome trip, and a great way to charge up our creativity before wedding season started! We knew while we were there, we wanted to photograph something wedding related. Through a crazy chain of events (the awesome Lauren at ELD introduced us to Jeni, who introduced us to Bianca and Emily), we were introduced to Bianca and Emily of B.E. Bridal in Charleston! We were super thrilled that they were willing to help us out with a shoot!

As we were planning, we told Bianca and Emily that we wanted to do something framed around ideas that inspired them, because telling their story was more important to us than the theme! Emily and Bianca only started working together recently, but both have a background in event planning. Emily is from Denver, but after a trip to South Carolina and finding that she could go outside mid-winter with only a sweatshirt, she decided the South was the place for her! Emily was raised in Clemson, SC, and has a background in several different art forms, and is awesome at bringing her creativity to a wedding day!

Charleston sees a lot of beach weddings, and Emily and Bianca wanted our bridal shoot to showcase some of the other beautiful settings Charleston has to offer, including Charleston Harbor, Waterfront Park, and of course the cobblestone streets! The dress was loaned to us by The Bride Room here in Nashville, and was a beautiful Amsale ballgown. When I contacted Stephanie at The Bride Room, we told her where we were shooting, and that we would love for her to pick one of her favorite dresses (instead of us choosing one). Her choice of the Blair gown was absolutely perfect! Bianca and Emily contacted Tammy Gaither of The Petal Pusher and Jane Ray of Jane Ray Flowers for our beautiful bouquets. They also located our lovely models, Lauren and Elle, and arranged for us to shoot at Curiosity (more on that later!).

Chris and I had an amazing time shooting all day, and are super thankful for the team we got to work with! Here are some of our favorites from the day:

We photographed Dave and Rebecca’s beautiful wedding at the Hermitage Hotel back in December, and it was absolutely beautiful! These two are so sweet, and super adventurous! We loved hearing friends and family member’s stories about them throughout the day They met rock climbing at Climb Nashville…how cool is that?! Much of their relationship revolves around the outdoors–Dave intended to propose while kayaking on Percy Priest Lake, but due to the great Nashville flood, he ended up proposing after a hike and a picnic among wildflowers. Pretty much the sweetest thing ever! They love doing all kinds of outdoor things together (except caving, according to Dave ).

Their Nashville wedding in December was such a fun and classy celebration, and we are so thrilled that we got to be there with them! Here are a few of our favorite images from the day

We have absolutely loved getting to know Ty and Karen; I can not say enough about how wonderful they are. It has been so sweet to get to watch them prepare for a marriage as their wedding day approached, and we are so thankful for the relationship we formed with them over the last few few months! Ty and Karen met at another wedding, where they briefly talked, and then later connected through Facebook. The beginning of their friendship and relationship took place long distance through Facebook, then email, as they were both working for Teach for America-Ty in Hawaii and Karen in Arizona. They both eventually ended up in the same city, Nashville, and the rest was history They are probably some of the smartest people I’ve ever met, and also some of the sweetest people ever! We’ll definitely share some more about them later with their full post, but for now, just a sneak peek from yesterday!

It always amazes me the way things happen and people become connected in life. Way back in 2009, before we ever had any idea that we would some day live in Nashville, I was contacted by Lindsey, a friend of one of our brides, to do a shoot for a country music singer/songwriter named Tonja Rose. Through that shoot, we became friends, and Lindsey and Tonja have been a blessing on our lives ever since. We’ve done several things with them since moving to Nashville, including attending and photographing some concerts that were part of Songs for the Cure, an organization in Nashville that exists to raise awareness for childhood cancer, and provide HOPE to those fighting.

Last week, we had a session scheduled to do some updated headshots for Tonja, and at the last minute, she told me she was bringing along Tay, whom she originally met through Songs for the Cure, and asked if we could also do some photos with her. Of course we said yes, and we are so thankful for the time we got to spend with Tay, Tonja, and Lindsey! Tay was diagnosed with renal cell carcinoma in 2009 (the youngest to ever develop this type of cancer), and now also Metastatic Renal Cell Carcinoma Papillary Type 2, which is most commonly diagnosed in age 50+ year old adults. Tay was an avid softball player prior to her diagnosis, and refuses to let the fear of cancer strike her out. She is such an incredible, amazing, and beautiful young woman, filled with hope and joy. I’m really not good with words, but the hour we got to spend with her was such a blessing to us. Please take some time today to pray for Tay and her family, and all those affected by cancer in our world (also, here is a link to a song Tonja wrote for Tay, entitled “She’s a Hero”).
