Happy New Year’s Eve, everyone! I probably say this just about every single post, but we really do have the greatest clients. I was so overwhelmed putting this together and reminiscing on all the amazing shoots we’ve had this year, and the new relationships that we’ve formed. I can not think of a single thing I would rather be doing with my life Thank you all so much for making 2011 an AMAZING year, and for all your friendship and support!

It’s late, but we just had to share a few images from Rebecca and Dave’s stunning Hermitage Hotel wedding in Nashville from today!

Merry Christmas!

I am so glad to have a few minutes to blog tonight, because I have been dying to share these images of Farrar and Mark for months! I absolutely adore their love story; they were friends in high school who hung out, dated each other’s friends, etc., then went their separate ways after graduation. The following years brought college, and each of them moving various places around the country. Then in fall of 2009, Mark happened to be thinking of Farrar, and emailed her to say that if she was ever back in Tennessee and wanted to go for a walk, or sit around a campfire and have a glass of wine, that she should give him a call. She was, and she did, and as Farrar says, that led them to where they are today!

Farrar’s account of their engagement story is so sweet:

We were going on a long walk around our farm and the farm bordering ours. It was Saturday, January 22nd. We had been doing house chores inside and it had taken us longer than we thought to get out the door to get started with our walk.We made our way towards the back of the property, walking through our orchard. I sensed that Mark wasn’t close by me, and I turned around to see what was holding him up!I turned to see him several yards away, down on one knee. I said, “Today? I look terrible!” For whatever reason I guess I thought I should have been all dolled up when he proposed. But I ran up to him and hugged and kissed him and forgot that I hadn’t given him an answer, so I immediately said “Yes!Yes!Yes!” He had a blue- green piece of river glass that had been tumbled into the shape of a ring. He wanted us to go together to pick out the setting for my engagement ring since we would be using a stone given to us by his mother. We continued on our walk. It was a brisk winter day, and while we were on our walk we were lucky enough to see 3 Bald Eagles!

Love it! And that brings us to the images. Farrar and Mark were planning a fabulous wedding to take place at her family home in Franklin, TN. But as the planning progressed, they decided that a small, intimate elopement was much more their style. They eloped in August, then we had the opportunity to do a portrait session for them on their farm in September, and photograph their garden party reception (at her family’s home in Franklin) in October! It was absolutely perfect, and so them, through and through.

So first, a few of our favorites from their portrait session!

Farrar and Mark love animals, so of course we had to include some pictures with their dogs, cat, chickens, and guinea hens (which were hilarious! I loved them!).

Now onto the reception!

The green and gold accents were perfect for the outdoor setting!

Farrar’s dress was from BHLDN, adding the perfect touch of style!

Music and entertainment by Ron Shuff’s Music Revue (highly recommend-they were awesome!)

And to wind down the party, they brought in a bluegrass band. So fun!

Congratulations again, Farrar and Mark! You all are so sweet, and we are so thrilled to have gotten to know you!

Sarah wore her mother’s earrings in her hair, as a way of having her mother’s memory be a part of her day. Love it!

I absolutely adored Sarah’s Augusta Jones bridal gown. And it was the gown that was meant to be! Sarah was in NYC on business, and happened to have some free time one afternoon. It just so happened that Kleinfeld’s had just one appointment open, and she found the perfect dress!

Not sure why, but there’s something I just love about this image of Sarah’s dad, brother, and sister in law.

Sarah and her dad have an incredibly special relationship, which was so sweet to witness throughout the day.

I think this is one of my favorites of the day; the emotion while Sarah and her dad walked down the aisle was so beautiful!

The band for the evening was Blue Tone Music out of Nashville, and they were absolutely amazing!

I love that Wayne and Sarah just couldn’t wipe the smiles from their faces through the evening. They are so in love, and you didn’t have to look hard to see it!

Again with the father daughter dances. I’m pretty sure I cry EVERY time! Sarah and her father were serenaded by Nan Kelley (of Great American Country)

They definitely threw a fabulous party!

Ashley and Ricky were married in one of the most exciting ceremonies we have ever had the pleasure of photographing! The ceremony, which took place at Ricky’s family’s farm was planned to be outside. After careful watching of the weather for weeks, the decision was made to keep it outdoors, rain or shine. Saturday dawned bright and beautiful, with the sun out and not a cloud in the sky. The first look, wedding party pictures, and family pictures went off without a hitch. Fast forward to twenty minutes before ceremony time…the sky is black, the wind has kicked up, and everyone is checking the weather on their cell phones. The rain started right as Ashley walked down the aisle, and their quick-thinking pastor cut the ceremony down to about 5 minutes as the rain poured. They said their “I do’s”, kissed, and booked it back up the aisle to the limo, while guests ran to their cars. Most brides would have been devastated…but Ashley and Ricky loved it! It was spontaneous, exciting, and very much “them.”

One of my favorite parts about their wedding day was how expressive Ashley and Ricky both are (you’ll see what I mean when we get to the images!). You could really tell they truly FELT everything on their wedding day, and were living in the moment. I am so thrilled that we got to experience their joy right along with them!

I can NOT believe it is already November 1st! It’s such a cliche thing to say, but the year is really flying by! We had a busy October full of tons of fun shoots, and now I’ve got a little bit of time to catch up on blogging some weddings from the end of the summer.

As you’ll remember, Tracy and Steven were married at Estes Chapel in Wilmore, KY. Tracy is one of my oldest and best friends, and we could not have been more thrilled to be there to celebrate with her and Steven. Their wedding was classic and beautiful, and everyone was so incredibly laid back. I love when people are able to relax and really enjoy the day! And their wedding party? So fun and sweet!

We love all our clients. And love that they are friends by the time we shoot their wedding. But with Erika and Lydon, it seems like we’ve actually known them forever, instead of less than a year. They are such sweet, God loving, awesome people, and we have felt so blessed to be able to call them our friends, and being there to celebrate with them today was just amazing.

It was one of those perfect days towards the end of the summer, with crisp, cooler air that lets you know fall is on the way In other words, the perfect day for their outdoor ceremony at the Hilary J. Boone Center on the campus of the University of Kentucky! Ashley and Chris are both physical therapists in California, so while Lexington was home for Chris (a UK alumni), it was essentially like planning a destination wedding.  They are such an adorable, stylish couple, and their elegant wedding went off without a hitch!

Like I mentioned in the sneak peek, I have lots of favorites to share…so here we go!

It was fun for me to get to photograph the groom for a change!

The shot on the left here is Ashley’s mother pinning her grandmother’s ring into her dress as her “something old.” So sweet.

The wedding party got ready at the Lexington Hilton downtown, which is beautiful! I loved the modern feel of the rooms, it definitely added a great element to the getting ready images!

The ceremony was performed by Ashley’s grandfather, who also performed her sister’s ceremony, baptized Ashley and her sister, and performed (I believe) her parent’s wedding ceremony. It was so beautiful and emotional!
