Dr. Kelly is part of the vocal faculty at WKU, and is just an amazingly talented mezzo soprano. She has been a featured performer all over the country, and is currently developing a cabaret series of performances in Bowling Green, Ky, for this summer! (Her husband, who made an emergency lipstick delivery during the session, is also an incredible vocalist!) Just in case you couldn’t tell from the photos, Dr. Kelly is inspired by Audrey Hepburn, and many things (musical and fashion!) from the 1930s-1950s.

We had the BEST time shooting this week…it’s not often that shooting for myself and my artistic needs perfectly matches up with what a client also has in mind for a shoot (Sidenote for photographers: I shot this session entirely with our new 50mm f/1.4. Oh my gosh! I am in love with that lens…it takes a lot for me to put up my 24-105, but this lens definitely did it!) I also absolutely adored her vintage hats and dresses, LOVE! So, without further ado, here are a few favorites!

We have one more wedding this year, with Katie and Aaron in Georgetown, Ky, and then we get to kick off 2010 with Michelle and Pedro in New Albany, IN on January 1! We can’t to see all the wonderful people we get to work with in the coming year Thank you all for your support and encouragement this year, you all are the best!

I was contacted a few months ago by one of their artistic staff about a picture I had done of a Vintage Magpie bouquet, from Kindal and Bo’s beautiful wedding! There is a feature in the Fall/Winter 2009 issue of Well Wed and Vermont Vows, called “Vintage Finds,” that has a ton of fabulous ideas to add a sophisticated vintage touch to your wedding. They had fallen in love with bouquets from the Vintage Magpie, and decided to use one of my pictures! Of course, I couldn’t wait to get my hands on a copy and see my name in print So here’s some pictures! I’m so super excited!

Yay! We also have an exciting weekend ahead! Tomorrow is mine and Chris’s one year anniversary, and we will be celebrating by shooting Meagan and Chris’s wedding in Bowling Green! So excited!!!

So if you’re a long time blog reader or Facebook follower, you are probably going to recognize the lovely lady in this set of pictures! Misty is one of my good friends, and one of my favorite models. She graciously puts up with me, especially when I want to try something new or just try to push my creativity or whatever. Even when it’s cold outside like it was yesterday haha. Misty is fabulously talented, and a theatre major with a musical theatre minor at WKU. So enough of the chit chat, here’s some pictures!

Thinking back on the past year, I decided I wanted to do a series of blog posts of some of my favorite images. I should have probably started the year with this, but hey, better late than never right? Haha. So for the next several days I’m going to post three of my favorite pictures in several categories. So far it’s been tough to narrow them down…but we’ll see how it goes haha. It may just be an approximation, because I bet that if I looked through everything on a different day, I would have different favorites. And, some sessions, I can NOT pick one favorite haha.

But…today are my top three favorites from portrait sessions. In no particular order….

This is Paige. Paige graduated from East Jessamine High School in May ’08. Even though the weather was not cooperative, her and her mom were such troopers, and I absolutely love this one of her in the rain!

Next we have Misty! Misty is such a fabulous person all around. She is so full of life and fabulously talented at everything she does! I love hanging out with her, and I love that she models for me whenever I want to stretch my creativity! I can’t say enough about her

Last one for today is a shot from my first Operation: Love Reunited family. This is Shane and his daughter, Skylie. There are tons that I could have chosen from this session as favorites, but I love the emotion in this one. Anytime I’m scrolling through photos I just have to stop and look at it. Shane is currently in Iraq, and he as well as his wife Ashley and daughter Skylie are all in my prayers! They are such a wonderful family that I am so blessed to know!

So….I’m really really really really excited because I just completed my last assignment for my online class!!! Which was my last class ever in my undergraduate career!!! Ahhh!!!

So what does this mean for you? It hopefully means more fun blogging with stuff to help you plan your wedding, my random thoughts, and just whatever other cool stuff I come across. So in honor of any brides to be who may not have their dress yet…this post is for you!

I had a friend recently ask me where I got my wedding dress. Well, I got it at The Couture Close Bridal Boutique in La Grange, Kentucky (near Louisville). Ladies–I cannot even begin to tell you how fabulous this place is! They were voted “Best Wedding Gowns in Louisville” by the WLKY A-List, and describe themselves as a “blend of an upscale New York style boutique with the charm of Southern hospitality.” I can tell you that they are all that and more! You walk into this adorable little store that is so fabulously decorated that it takes your breath away, and the walls are lined with the latest designer dresses. Lauren and Tera, who run the boutique, are pretty much the coolest girls ever! They made my dress shopping experience absolutely a dream. (Before I discovered the Couture Closet, I got dragged to David’s Bridal by my cousin, and happened to have such a terrible experience at that particular store that I was ready to not have a wedding haha, so Lauren and Tera were definitely a breath of fresh air!)

AND, this weekend, January 23-25 is their trunk show for the Vineyard Collection, and Reverie by Melissa Sweet (my two favorites!!). I know it’s short notice, but if you have a chance to make an appointment and don’t have a dress yet…do it! It’s so fabulous. Ok I know I used the word fabulous a lot in this post, but seriously.
