I am so glad to have a few minutes to blog tonight, because I have been dying to share these images of Farrar and Mark for months! I absolutely adore their love story; they were friends in high school who hung out, dated each other’s friends, etc., then went their separate ways after graduation. The following years brought college, and each of them moving various places around the country. Then in fall of 2009, Mark happened to be thinking of Farrar, and emailed her to say that if she was ever back in Tennessee and wanted to go for a walk, or sit around a campfire and have a glass of wine, that she should give him a call. She was, and she did, and as Farrar says, that led them to where they are today!

Farrar’s account of their engagement story is so sweet:

We were going on a long walk around our farm and the farm bordering ours. It was Saturday, January 22nd. We had been doing house chores inside and it had taken us longer than we thought to get out the door to get started with our walk.We made our way towards the back of the property, walking through our orchard. I sensed that Mark wasn’t close by me, and I turned around to see what was holding him up!I turned to see him several yards away, down on one knee. I said, “Today? I look terrible!” For whatever reason I guess I thought I should have been all dolled up when he proposed. But I ran up to him and hugged and kissed him and forgot that I hadn’t given him an answer, so I immediately said “Yes!Yes!Yes!” He had a blue- green piece of river glass that had been tumbled into the shape of a ring. He wanted us to go together to pick out the setting for my engagement ring since we would be using a stone given to us by his mother. We continued on our walk. It was a brisk winter day, and while we were on our walk we were lucky enough to see 3 Bald Eagles!

Love it! And that brings us to the images. Farrar and Mark were planning a fabulous wedding to take place at her family home in Franklin, TN. But as the planning progressed, they decided that a small, intimate elopement was much more their style. They eloped in August, then we had the opportunity to do a portrait session for them on their farm in September, and photograph their garden party reception (at her family’s home in Franklin) in October! It was absolutely perfect, and so them, through and through.

So first, a few of our favorites from their portrait session!

Farrar and Mark love animals, so of course we had to include some pictures with their dogs, cat, chickens, and guinea hens (which were hilarious! I loved them!).

Now onto the reception!

The green and gold accents were perfect for the outdoor setting!

Music and entertainment by Ron Shuff’s Music Revue (highly recommend-they were awesome!)

And to wind down the party, they brought in a bluegrass band. So fun!

Congratulations again, Farrar and Mark! You all are so sweet, and we are so thrilled to have gotten to know you!

So that is how we ended up back in Bowling Green, on the campus of Western Kentucky University, for Elizabeth and Ben’s engagement session in October It has been wonderful to reconnect with Elizabeth, and get to know Ben! They are absolutely perfect together. They are both teachers in Bowling Green, and Ben also coaches football for the Bowling Green High School Purples (who are playing for the 5A State Championship on Saturday! Go Purples!). They are so sweet together, with Ben’s quiet personality balancing out Liz’s on the go, flurry-of-activity self We are so excited for their Louisville, KY wedding in June!

Onto some favorites!

We started out on WKU’s campus, where Elizabeth and Ben met! Of course we had to make a stop at the famous “Kissing Bridge”!

Reasons I love my job: Elizabeth’s email after they saw their images, saying no image ever has come so close to capturing their souls and the root of their relationship as this one. I’m so glad they felt comfortable enough with us for us to be able to capture this image for them!

Next we headed to the BGHS football stadium! Grape soda, in honor of the Purples!

Their wedding date Ok, maybe a little cheesy, but still fun!

True story: Guys tend to be a little more tense during photo shoots than their ladies. But once we got a football in Ben’s hands, it’s like he was right at home! So fun (*Edited to add: Ok, so the football is in Liz’s hands here, but they threw back and forth for a bit haha)

Congratulations again, Elizabeth & Ben! We are so happy for you both, and can’t wait for your wedding! And good luck at the big game, Coach!

It was appropriate that we ended on the golf course. Erika and Lydon LOVE to play golf, and Lydon proposed at the 12th hole during one of the practice days for the Master’s. So fun!

We photographed Ty and Karen’s engagement session back in October, and they are just the sweetest couple. Ty actually took on the duty of booking their photographer, so we got to know him before we met Karen. It was so incredibly sweet listening to him talk about how amazing the love of his life was. We then later had dinner with them. Ty got there first, and the way his face lit up when Karen arrived was so adorable! And Karen? She is probably the sweetest, most genuinely happy person I have ever met! They both have such a passion for everything about life, but especially for education. They are so fun to be around, and we had an awesome time with their engagement session, and can’t wait for their  Cedarwood wedding in May!

We started out our session in downtown Nashville for some fun, modern images

They are such a gorgeous couple! Also, shout out to the fab Nashville make up artist Amy Lynn Larwig for Karen’s hair and make up!

Next, we headed to a park for some natural, pretty light images. The smiles never stopped…love it!

I think this is one of my new all time favorite shots. The way he’s holding her, her smile…it’s just all such a sweet moment!

We then headed to Hillsboro Village, and the Bookman Bookwoman used bookstore, which is incredible! Ty and Karen often visit it on Sunday and browse the books together. I love when we can incorporate something the couple loves to do together into their session!

Ty & Karen: We have loved getting to hang out with you and getting to know you, and are so excited to get to spend your wedding day with you!

So, I realized the other day that I never blogged more from Casey and Cliff’s engagement session at the University of Kentucky in Lexington. We shot their session back in August, after several reschedules due to rain. But the third time was a charm, and we ended up with the perfect day! Casey and Cliff met while at school at the University of Kentucky, so it was the perfect spot for their session. They are so sweet and fun together, and I loved how relaxed they were in front of the camera! We can’t wait for their wedding next year

Hello, friends!

How about a little sunshine and love to kick off your Monday morning? Today’s blog post features Carrie and Austin’s engagement session in Kentucky. We started out at sunrise at Shaker Village of Pleasant Hill, which is just gorgeous! Carrie has been in or involved with several weddings we’ve shot, and I also did headshots for her last year, so I already knew her and how sweet she is. But during this session was the first time I met Austin. And five minutes into it, I could already see how perfect they are together They bring out these smiles in each other that are absolutely contagious, and the two of them together are also hilarious! We definitely spent a good majority of the session laughing (and if you ask me, that’s a great way to spend a day!). I’m already so excited for their wedding in May, because I know it’s going to be relaxed, full of laughter, fun, and a truly joyous celebration of love.

Laura Lee and Chris are getting married at Cedarwood next June, so it was the perfect pick for their engagement session (Side note: we absolutely love the ladies at Cedarwood! They do such an amazing job collaborating with and taking care of their couples!) Laura Lee is like the iconic Southern bride…sweet as sweet tea, stylish, and creative! One of their purposes for their engagement images was to make save the date cards, and she created the adorable number blocks with their wedding date. Perfect!

So sweet. Onto some more of our favorite images!

Next we headed downtown for some more modern images. I love how she styled their outfits with the cowboy boots and Chris’s red shirt!

So fun! And now for a funny story. This was a sunrise engagement session, which means the light was awesome, even though we may or may not have been 100% awake haha. So we pull up to the Cedarwood nature preserve, it’s barely light out, a little foggy, and this guy comes out of the weeds:

Not gonna lie, it was kind of startling haha! Too funny. He also had a friend, but the second one didn’t hang around as long. This one was super interested in what we were doing haha. So we say we were attacked by wolves…aka visited by two random Alaskan huskies

I am finally getting caught up on our blog posts! Today kicks off catching up on engagement session full posts, starting with Amanda and Scott’s modern downtown Nashville engagement session back in September! (With how cold it is today, it’s hard to remember that it was so sweltering in September haha).

Amanda and Scott are super cute, and super fun! They are getting married in Kentucky, their home state, next year, and currently live in Indiana. But Nashville is one of their favorite cities to visit, so they decided it would make the perfect location for their engagement photos! Such a fun session!

Second, it was 11/11/11, which, let’s face it, is just cool

And finally, we shot Rachael and Andrew’s engagement session in Louisville! They both are currently attending the Southern Baptist Theological Seminary, which also happens to be where the met and fell in love. So of course we had to start there for our shoot!

So cute!

Then after shooting around Louisville, we ended up at the waterfront by the 2nd Street Bridge right at sunset. Beautiful! Andrew and Rachael walked across the bridge on one of their first dates

Just a quick sneak peek for tonight I’m not gonna lie, I am wiped out after this weekend and from having a cold. (Elizabeth and Ben were my heroes when they showed up to their session with pumpkin spice lattes from Starbucks! <3)

They insisted that they weren’t very outwardly romantic, but they were great sports and played along for me I think these turned out to be adorable and sweet! (And I love Liz’s Lilly Pulitzer dress!)

Then we moved onto some fun, football themed pictures! Ben is a football coach so we got special field access So fun!
